NPP MPs demand investigation into "Vickyleaks"

NPP MPs demand investigation into The Minority in Parliament has asked the leadership of the house to investigate the content of a tape believed to be that of the deputy Minister of Communications, Victoria Hammah.

The deputy minister was relieved of her post on Friday by President Mahama following some damning revelations she made in a conversation she had with a yet to be identified lady.

Even before dust settles on the matter, the minority is charging the leadership of the house to dig deep into the said tape.

NPP MP for Tarkwa, Gifty Kusi believes the summarily dismissal of the minister is an admission that all the revelations are true.

In an interview with XYZ News’ Parliamentary correspondent, Ibrahim Alhassan, the MP opined that the deputy minister should not have been sacked in the first place since there was nothing incriminating about what is purported to have been said on the tape.

According to the lawmaker, the minister was sacked by President Mahama because of the fear she might reveal more of such schemes deeply rooted in government.

“She said she wants to make one million dollars what’s wrong with that? Why has she been sacked? Is it because she revealed someone met the SC judges before the verdict?” she wondered.

“We are calling on parliament to investigate what the minister said on the leaked tape.”

She however dismissed the assertions that the president acted swiftly to indicate how ready and willing he is to fight corruption.
